Where's Greek Life in USC?

Greek life inside the University of San Carlos is alive. Greek Life means Fraternities and Sororities that abound and has been existing in the university for so long. These groups carry names in Greeks - like Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Epsilon, Teta and so on. But why are they not listed in the official USC website?

If you go to the link "Campus Life" found on the left sidebar of usc.edu.ph, you will see a list of clubs which are mostly, if not all, academic-related. Nothing about Greek Life. Nothing about Fraternities and Sororities. Why?

Greek Life in most U.S. schools are highly acknowledged. They even have their own offices and they play big roles in almost all university events. But that is also what fraternities and sororities are doing in USC, isn't it? We often see frat members participating and volunteering in student events, inside or outside school premises. It is time that they get listed as part of Campus Life.

Just because few of us have become witnesses of frat wars in school, this doesn't mean the groups have to be feared. Greek life must be given a chance to prove their worthy cause.

Are you a member of a campus frat or sorority? How does Greek Life affect you as a student? Please leave a comment.

This recent administration have no knowledge what this fraternity council is for... They don't know the role of USC-IFSC to all fraternities in the campus and to all other fraternities in cebu city.

    Head Marshall Akira Sendoh says:

The fratmen whom ive served know me by this alias...

I served as USC-IFSC'S headmarshall from 2001 to 2003 and it's vice president during the said years as well. Ive has my share of issues, triumphs and setbacks but all of these are memories now like the marshal shirts and id cards that hang in my room.

The new generation, I doubt even knows what the usc ifsc is or its existence. Perhaps only a handful of USCTC Students know it exists. Why, such an organization full of pride stumbled back into the darkness is a thing i cant explain or blame on my sucessors. Things change...

How powerful was this organization? I use to write any meeting with regards to the marshalls in the lobby blackboard. No mother org had the balls to do that on short notice.

We conducted meetings for planning our duties without even applying for permit as all other orgs would do. In fairness, the SAS officer Sir Teodis Bumaat, despite all the negative write ups, never gave me a hard time. It was mutual respect, maybe that was a key the other ordgs never had.

In My term, then USC IFSC President Melvin Bellarmino reaped the fruits of the hardships of our predeceesors. But we remained humble in the spirit of service.

We never endorsed any poltical party, but we supported the ssc in an way possible.

Now, all of these are memories.

I entered USC Main one time to visit a friend...I could not hold my head high anymore.
During my tiome the USC-IFSC branched out to USC Main...and we had a home thereaway from USCTC

With the technology of today advancing and so many things to do for recreation, fratmen and sor ladies are endangered species...

    Sad to say...
